Charles is a 3rd generation Blacksmith with over 30 years experience as an Agricultural Blacksmith,Farrier and General Smith.He works in a recently converted workshop using traditional coke fire and anvil
He no longer shoes horses for a living ,but concentrates on Decorative and Functional Ironwork,as well as the more traditional Firegrates and Firedogs.
The Forge is open Monday -Friday 9am -5pm
Saturday 9am-12 noon
If you are some distance away it is wise to ring before visiting,as I may have to be out fitting work. The Forge is a full time occupation and not just an attraction and as such the fire will not always be lit, as there are many other faces to the job.
We can arrange demonstrations of forging for groups of 5-10 people,lasting approx 1-2hrs.Whilst entry to the Forge is usually Free organised demonstations do incur a small charge.
